Start with these steps
- Open PDF Studio, choose your document, and keep the original PDF separately.
- Select the appropriate text, image, annotation or page tool. Make a small test edit before changing a long document.
- Export and download the PDF, then open that saved file to check the edited areas and page sequence.
Choose the smallest useful editing task
Use Add Text for new content, Edit PDF Text for detected existing text, and the image tools for inserting or replacing supported images. Draw, Highlight and Shapes are useful for visible annotations. Choose Hand when you want to pan rather than place a new object.
You can also arrange pages, add numbering or watermarks, and place visible signatures and initials. A focused tool can be simpler when you need only one of those operations; Studio is useful when you want to combine several edits in the same working session.
PDF text does not behave like a Word paragraph
A PDF can store letters and words as separately positioned objects with embedded or subset fonts. An apparent paragraph is not necessarily one editable block. Detection, spacing and the appearance of replacement characters can vary with the file’s structure.
Make a small change and inspect both the preview and an exported test copy. If the chosen font cannot display a character or the layout is complex, a different font or an edit to the original source document may be more reliable. Do not assume that adding more text will reflow neighbouring content automatically.
Separate a scanned picture from editable text
A scanned page usually contains a picture of the words rather than editable letters. Studio can add new visible content over that page, but an overlay does not transform the original scan into a Word-style document.
Use OCR PDF for recognized searchable text or PDF to Word when your task is an editable-document conversion. Neither recognition nor a covering shape is a redaction workflow. Do not use an opaque rectangle to assume that confidential content or hidden data has been permanently removed.
Keep the document visible while adjusting properties
Select the object you intend to change before adjusting colour, thickness, opacity or text settings. Check which object is selected when several marks overlap. Use zoom, the hand tool and workspace controls to keep that area visible while the property panel is open.
Undo and Redo help recover from a mistaken edit during the session. For page changes, inspect the left-side page previews and confirm the sequence in the main view. Complete rearranging and layout work before applying final numbering or a certificate-based signing step outside Studio.
A preview is not a downloaded backup
The working document is held in the current editing session. Export it and download the prepared PDF before closing or reloading the page. An unsaved-changes warning is a reminder, not an automatic backup or a guarantee against browser termination.
Open the saved PDF in another reader and inspect every changed text area, replaced image, rotated page and signing field. A visible signature does not provide a digital certificate, and editing a previously digitally signed document can affect validation. Keep the original and confirm the requirements of whoever will receive the final document.
Check the finished file
- The saved PDF contains all intended edits with readable characters and correct images.
- Changed page order, rotations and numbering have been checked.
- Visible signatures meet the recipient’s requirements.
- The exported PDF has been downloaded and the original is retained.
