How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

Before you begin
A few useful answers before you start.
Can I skip the cover page?
Yes. Enter a range starting at page 2, such as 2-10. Selected pages receive consecutive numbers, starting at your chosen number.
How are rotated pages numbered?
Numbers are positioned relative to each visible page orientation, including pages rotated by 90, 180 or 270 degrees.
Are existing page numbers removed?
No. New numbers are added over the page content. Choose a free position to avoid covering existing text.
What does the total style mean?
The of style shows the assigned number and the last assigned number. For example, starting at 5 across three selected pages produces 5 of 7, 6 of 7 and 7 of 7.
What is the file limit?
PDF files up to 600 MB are accepted. Processing runs in a browser worker. Available device memory may impose a lower practical limit. Unlock protected PDFs before using this tool.
